We have an opening for you to grow with us as Lead Network Engineer in either Battle Creek, MI, or Oak Brook, IL. This innovative role will define and deliver Kellogg’s global network of the future, interface with growing cloud services, as well as prepare us for the new world of the hyper-connected “Internet of Everything”.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

In your role as a Lead Network Engineer you will be responsible for designing and implementing Kellogg’s global network strategy. This includes designing, building, testing, implementing, maintaining and optimizing Kellogg’s global infrastructure, in accordance with security policies and guidelines, as well as growing our business and building on our success by:

  • Delivering innovative LAN & WAN infrastructure solutions which greatly increase the flexibility, scalability, and reliability of Kellogg’s IT services globally

  • Accelerating Kellogg’s cloud strategy through deployment of high-speed network connectivity to multiple cloud service providers (e.g. AWS Direct Connect)

  • Working with innovative technologies to enable Kellogg’s global network of the future (e.g. Cloud, SDN, IoT)

  • Collaborating with cross functional teams to develop build design documents, work plan timelines, and managing workflows to meet project timeframes

  • Researching, analyzing and recommending new technologies to improve Kellogg’s IT infrastructure

  • Designing, developing, building, and testing infrastructure systems to meet business requirement and functional specifications

  • Installing, configuring, and testing Kellogg’s global network infrastructure

  • Documenting and completing knowledge transfer to production support prior to closeout of projects

  • Ensuring infrastructure deployments meet client's expectations

  • Researching, analyzing and recommending the implementation of software or hardware changes to rectify any problems

  • Creating support checklists and scripts

  • Ensuring network performance meets the present and future needs of the business

  • Recommending changes/enhancements for improved systems availability, reliability and performance

  • Supporting and helping establish global network infrastructure standards

  • Maintaining system operating procedures and documentation

  • Evaluating vendor solutions to ensure compliance with requirements and cost-effectiveness

  • Working with vendors to resolve problems

  • Monitoring services provided by vendors to ensure service levels meet requirements

WHAT DO I NEED TO DEMONSTRATE?

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Previous experience as a Network Engineer with comprehensive knowledge of networking fundamentals (e.g. OSI model, TCP/IP, Internet, and LAN / WAN technologies)

  • Ability to design and implement local area networks using a wide range of technologies such as Cisco, HPE/Aruba, and/or F5

  • Ability to design and implement VPN networks (employee and B2B) using a wide range of technologies such as Cisco, Palo Alto and/or SilverPeak

  • Ability to drive innovation and change using innovative technologies

  • Strong troubleshooting skills

  • High results orientation with proven track record

  • Process orientation with understanding of how to define current state, desired state, conduct gap analysis and deploy strategies for closing gaps

  • Past experience evaluating the effectiveness of current metrics in pursuit of improved performance indicators

  • Strong planning and organizing skills with experience managing project resources to ensure work is produced in a prompt, quality manner

  • Ability to travel between Oak Brook, IL and Battle Creek, MI, as well some occasional domestic and international travel

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

  • Previous experience integrating enterprise networks with cloud-based service providers

  • Ability to design and implement wide area networks using a wide range of technologies such as SD-WAN, MPLS, EIGRP, and/or BGP

  • Ability to design and implement AWS and/or Equinix CloudConnect network services

  • Previous experience administering IPAM solutions such as Infoblox for IP address management, DNS, and/or DHCP
