We are looking to fill one post-doctoral position in 2019 within Global Chemistry within the area of Raman Spectroscopy.

You will demonstrate and/or develop expertise in the operation of key analytical instrumentation and direct/perform analyses.   • Creative Chemistry – You’ll be using state-of-the art instrumentation, developing new methods and new approaches to creatively resolve complex food-chemistry challenges. This could include confocal Raman microscopy, chemometric data analysis, hyperspectral imaging, Surface Enhance Raman spectroscopy and more.

  • Technical Expertise – Put your skills to the test! You’ll act as a technical resource to the Company, participating on project teams in Research, Quality, and Product Development and providing support to manufacturing issues. You’ll be deepening your foundational knowledge of our ingredients, processes and products to enhance our competitive advantage regarding the future of food. #OwnIt

  • Key Ingredients – Hungry to learn more? You’ll be troubleshooting and problem solving on a variety of technical issues regarding ingredients and finished products. This will involve aspects of ingredient functionality, processing, stability, and shelf life.

  • Laboratory Skills + Food Science Knowledge – You’ll be responsible for maintaining state-of-the-art food science knowledge and laboratory skills to meet business objectives. And this is only the beginning!



  • Doctor of Philosophy Degree in a scientific discipline linked to Chemistry or Food Science (including but not limited to Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, etc.)

  • Experience specializing in Raman Spectroscopy

  • Available for a 12 month position (May 2019 through May 2020)

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • This position requires an individual to use critical thinking skills, creativity and flexibility to successfully conduct project work and investigate and develop experiments to solve technical problems

  • The successful candidate will be able to competently perform hands-on laboratory work.

Bonus Points:

  • Ideal candidate will have strong expertise in the use of confocal Raman microscopy, chemometric data analysis, hyperspectral imaging and a working knowledge of Surface Enhance Raman spectroscopy of foods, such as cereal, snacks, and raw materials.

As part of the Kellogg Fellowship program, you will participate in a corporate onboarding orientation at our Kellogg World Headquarters in Battle Creek, Michigan (Cereal City, USA!). This event consists of executive exposure, previous intern panels, networking events, community activities and much more.

This paid fellowship requires a 12 month, full-time commitment starting May 2019. Relocation advising and sign-on bonus provided – and did we mention we have plenty of snacks? Travel may be required but will depend on geography and placement.
