We have an opening for you to grow with us as a Lead IT Engineer – Database in Oak Brook, IL. This critical role will be responsible for creation, delivery, and enhancement of Kellogg’s global database landscapes as we move to virtualized environments both on premise and in the cloud.
HERE’S A TASTE OF WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Design & Deliver - Collaborate with the IT Application Design, Delivery, and Architecture teams to understand business needs and requirements in order to deliver successful database platforms and solutions. Identify and document database technical requirements for projects by reviewing documentation and interviewing application and project experts, consultants, and vendors. Build new Oracle and SQL Server databases to Kellogg standards and application specifications. Perform database migrations using various methods, including migrations from one major version to another, and also across platforms (such as from Oracle to SQL Server).
Continuous Improvement - Assess and document current Oracle and SQL Server database environments to understand server specifications, operating system requirements, disk space requirements, database versions and database configurations. Conduct technical research to resolve database errors, answer user questions, and understand technical structures, issues, and solutions. Conduct knowledge transfer of new solutions to the Database Operations team.
YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS
High School Diploma or GED
Related experience as an Oracle DBA. Experience should include Oracle support, installation, database creation, database migration, backup and recovery, configuring Oracle stats jobs, etc.
High Availability conceptual knowledge – familiarity with Oracle Data Guard
Proficiency working in Linux
Excellent communication and team work skills
Demonstrated process and results orientation with meticulous attention to detail, consistency, and thoroughness
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or other related field
In addition to Oracle experience, similar level of experience with SQL Server strongly preferred
Familiarity with SQL Server clustering, replication, mirroring and availability groups
Experience with HP-UX and Windows
Experience configuring designing Oracle in SAP environments
Experience with AWS database builds on EC2 and using RDS
